Description: The evening will feature talented choristers, alumni and community musicians in a variety of performances from barbershop quartet to chamber singers to jazz ensembles. Without giving too much away, it will also feature a duet by one Artistic Director and his lovely wife! Elegant desserts will be served with delicious dessert wines and champagne. The event is also open to our young people-thus enabling the whole family to join us for this musical night. Ginger ale, water, brownies and cookies will round out the refreshments. For this fundraiser, we ask for a minimum donation of $20 for adults and $10 for children under 18. We invite you to support the work of The Maryland State Boychoir.

Description: Cantate Chamber Singers presents A Crown of Stars featuring the Maryland State Boychoir – veterans of recordings, American and European tours, and radio and television. The concert’s first half features the Boychoir, under Artistic Director Stephen Holmes, performing favorites from the Renaissance to world and folk music, as well as a world premiere piece written for the group by Cantate Composer-in-residence Andrew Earle Simpson entitled “Sing, O Daughter of Zion.” Then Gisèle Becker leads Cantate and orchestra, the Boychoir, soprano Lisa Edwards-Burrs, and tenor Joseph Dietrich in Simpson’s inventively scored wedding oratorio A Crown of Stars. Commissioned by Cantate in 2006, the oratorio is a festive and moving musical adventure, drawing on texts from around the world and throughout history to celebrate marriage from a universal perspective.

Cantate Chamber Singers is offering MSB families, friends, and patrons a special 50% discount for this concert prominently featuring the Boychoir! These tickets will be only $15 and must be purchased in advance.
